MHS BPA students advance to state competitions

                A total of 27 Mission High School (MHS) students have qualified to advance to state Business Professionals of America (BPA) competitions. They qualified, based upon their performance at the recent BPA Regional Leadership Conference held in McAllen, Texas. The state competition will be held in Houston, Texas in early March.

                The following students are advancing to state competitions as individual contestants, based upon their performance at regionals:

                Fundamental Accounting: Andy Garcia, first place; Griselda Carillo, second place; Juan Daniel Garcia, fourth place.

                Advanced Accounting: Diana Del Moral, first place.

                Financial Analyst Team: Andy Garcia and Sarah Lopez, first place.

                Keyboarding Production: Maxine Rodriguez, first place.

                Fundamental Word Processing: Nallely De Leon, third place.

                Advanced Word Processing: Alexis Flores, second place.

                Basic Office Systems: Adry Salazar, first place.

                Advanced Office Systems: Claudia Cavazos, third place.

                Fundamental Spreadsheets: Aaron Moreno, second place.

                Advanced Spreadsheets: Javier Cervantes, second place; Luis Hilario, third place.

                Database Applications: Rocio Rendon, first place; Sarah Lopez, second place; Jasmin Vega, third place.

                Administrative Support Team: Javier Cervantes, Claudia Cavazos, Nallely De Leon, Jasmin Vega, second place.

                Computer Network Technology: Jovanna Hernandez, fourth place.

                Fundamentals of Web Design: Gabby Gonzalez, first place.

Graphic Design Promotion: Aileen Hernandez, second place.

Video Production Team: Leslie Rodriguez, Stefanie Florez, Estrella Pina, Melissa Briones, second place.

Global Marketing Team: Jose Silva and Jose Benitez, first place.

                Advanced Interview Skills: Kimberly Muniz, second place.

                Presentation Management Team: Amanda Saenz and Esmeralda Reyna, second place.

                Overall, the MHS BPA students earned 32 regional awards. Students competed in 57 different events against over 600 participants. Competition areas included: finance, business administration, management information systems, digital communications and design, management, marketing, and communication.
