MHS choir students advance to state UIL competitions

                The Mission High School (MHS) choir had 19 students recently compete at the UIL Solo and Ensemble contest. Each of them were awarded “Superior” ratings for their performances. In addition to that, 12 of the 19 students performed a class one (college level) solo and have qualified for the Texas State Solo and Ensemble Contest to be held in Austin, Texas in May.

                The students who have qualified for state for their superior ratings on the class one selections are: Xavier Alonzo, Emara Balderas, Esai Balderas, Sarah Cantu, Zitlalith Cantu, Aryssa Castillo, Carolina Gonzalez, J.J. Gaitan, Joel Guerrero, Stephany Lopez, Oscar Salinas, Samantha Sanchez.

                The students who earned superior ratings for a class three selection are: Jacinda Chavez, Andrea Gonzalez.

                The students who earned superior ratings for a class two selection are: Christopher Barboza, Yvette Cazares, Samantha Esquivel, Yajaira Garcia, Marcelino Ortiz.
