VMHS choir students advance to state UIL competitions

                The Veterans Memorial High School (VMHS) choir has 24 students who were not only awarded “Superior” ratings for their performances at a UIL Solo and Ensemble contest, they are also advancing to state competitions. These students received the superior rating, performing a class one (college level) solo. The Texas State Solo and Ensemble Contest will be held in Austin, Texas in May.

                The students who have qualified for state for their superior ratings on the class one selections are: Victoria Fajardo, Alexander Reyes, Paula Vazquez, Japheth Varlack, Dara San Martin, Stephanie McCoy, Mary Almendarez, Ashley Alaniz, Matthew Pena, Myhra Zarate, Micaela Lamas, Chris Vargas, Gabriela Lopez, Adriel Varlack, Juan “JT” Lara, Stephanie De La Garza, Brian Mueller, Alexis Barrientes, Darius Davis, Sandra Barba, Vanessa Cano, Raul Rivera, Katarina Padilla, Cherish Varlack.

                Seven other students also earned superior ratings for their performances on either class three or class two solos. They are: Julian Rivera, Tamika Munguia, Keila Rocha, Tyler Varlack, Daisy Rios, Rachel Walzer, Alyssa Davidson.
