Veterans Memorial FFA Chapter does well at STAR Livestock Show

                The Veterans Memorial FFA Chapter participated in the recent South Texas Agricultural Roundup (STAR) Livestock Show. Quite a few student projects received champion awards.

                Darian Bazan had the champion OPB hot and earned a fourth place in hog showmanship. Marissa Garcia was awarded reserve champion medium weight goat and reserve champion goat showman. Marcus Cordova earned reserve champion junior lamb showman. Devin Stiers earned a $1,000 STAR scholarship.

                Other top results in the market hog division: David Bazan, fifth place; Marco Diaz, fifth place (sold at auction); Javier Martinez, fifth place and third in showmanship; Johnny Martinez, fifth place and ninth in showmanship; J.R. Martinez, fifth place.

                In the market lamb division: Zenaida Alaniz, second place (sold at auction) and third in showmanship; Marcus Cordova, fourth place (sold at auction).

                In the market goat division: Bella Alaniz, second place (sold at auction) and fourth in showmanship; Cordel Bosler, eleventh place.

                In the Breeding cattle division: Christina Reyna, second place and fifth place in commercial heifer division; Angel Sanchez, second place in the Beefmaster heifer division; A.J. Barba, fourth place in the Beefmaster heifer division.
