Mission CISD honors the top students in the classes of 2014

                The Mission CISD (Consolidated Independent School District) Board of Trustees hosted its annual Mission Academic Excellence Awards banquet last night. This banquet and award honors the top five percent of the senior classes from Mission High School and Veterans Memorial High School. Each student is recognized individually by the members of the Board of Trustees.

                In addition to honoring the top seniors, each student honoree invites an educator who has been important in their lives to honor as well.

                The Mission Academic Excellence Award recipients from Mission High School are: Jaqueline Becerra, Jose Antonio Benitez, Pedro Cantu, Griselda Carrillo, Claudia Cavazos, Javier Eduardo Cervantes, Vicente Cortes, Nallely De Leon, Christian Flores, Gabriela Gonzalez, Jesus Baldemar Hernandez, Luis Gerardo Hilario, Jennifer Lopez, Yakqueline Lopez, Jorge Medrano, Rocio Rendon, Nicole Reyes, Amanda Elizabeth Saenz, Sara Melina Stubbs.

                The Mission Academic Excellence Award recipients from Veterans Memorial High School are: Servando Abrego III, Francisco Armando Almanza, Rebekah Lynn Amaya, Giselle Castillo, Jorge Alberto Cavazos Jr., Roberto Javier Galindo, Benjamin Andres Garcia, Alexandria Nicole Gonzalez, Brandon Jacob Ibarra, Timothy Evan Johnson, Tavania Lynn Nino, Vanessa Gabriela Osorio De La Cruz, Amanda Danielle Rosales, Matthew Alan Sparks, Kevin Toscano, Andres Eulalio Vecchio, Rubi Vega, Galilea Zorola.

                The guest speaker for the event was Diana Gonzalez. She is a 2004 Veterans Memorial High School graduate and recipient of this award. Gonzalez is currently at project manager for the US Army Corps of Engineers in San Antonio, Texas.
