VMHS One Act Play wins District competition; advances to Area level

                The Veterans Memorial High School (VMHS) One Act Play team has won the UIL One Act Play District title with top honors. This is the seventh straight year the team has won the district competition. They now advance to the Area level competitions to be held at Del Mar College in Corpus Christi, Texas on April 12. The VMHS One Act Play team at VMHS has advanced to the state competition the last two years.

                In addition to the district title, Alex Hinojosa earned best actor; Emily Cantu earned best actress, Micaela Cantu earned all-star cast honors. Honorable mention all-star cast honors went to Karina Gamboa and Brian Mueller. Andrea Garcia and Jule Salinas earned technical achievement honors.

                The VMHS One Act Play team consists of: Brian Mueller, Alex Hinojosa, Emily Cantu, Micaela Cantu, Karina Gamboa, Sara Olivarez, Jose Garcia, Isaac Martinez, Miranda Morales, Joel Ocanas, Marisol Cervantes, Estefany Mendez, Clarissa Garza, Jenni Gonzalez, Debanhi Cespedes, Megan Bledsoe, Alyssa Hernandez, Andrew Cruz, Andrea Garcia, Leeann Cota, Brittany Bazaldua, Alex Hernandez. They are directed by James Hodgson and Joe Hernandez.

                The VMHS One Act Play is performing “Mariner” by Don Nigro.
