VMHS cosmetology students earn top spots at state competition

                The Veterans Memorial High School (VMHS) cosmetology program had quite a few students who not only qualified for state competition this year; but many of them came back with top honors.

                Earning first place in nail art was: Arantxa Avila, Loelia Cab, Danaly Garza, Cynthia Gonzalez, Daniela Olivarez, Yulissa Gomez.

                Earning second place in nail art was: Leslie Perez, Crystal Corona, Fanny Cano.

                In the day and evening combout competition, Jerilyn Bazaldua and Elsa Vasquez earned first place. Second place in this competition was earned by Alondra Del Angel, Alein Peralez, Alondra Vasquez.

                In braiding, Yvette Jimenez earned first place and Celeste Rangel earned second place.

                In the perm competition, Vitoria Cavazos came in first place. Laura Rangel came in third.

                Carolynn Galaviz earned first place in the fantasy division.

                Earning first place for photo panels was: Sarah Hernandez, Arely Melendez, Priscilla Sanchez, Esmeralda Villarreal. Earning second place was: Alexandra Perez, Aimee Villarreal.

                Other students who advanced to state but did not place were: Alexandra Perez, Alondra Cardenas, Erica Brown, Lizet Garcia, Brianna Garza.
