MHS choirs earn top ratings at recent UIL competition

                The Mission High School (MHS) Varsity Men’s and Varsity Mixed Choirs recently competed in the UIL Choral Concert and Sight Reading competitions. Both choirs earned division1 (superior) ratings from the three concert judges as well as the three sight reading judges. This resulted in the two groups also earning sweepstakes awards.

                The members of the Varsity Mixed Choir are, front row from left to right: Carolina Gonzalez, Ruby Gonzalez, Yajaira Garcia, Emara Balderas, Zitlalith Cantu, Samantha Sanchez, J.J. Gaitan, Oscar Salinas, Xavier Alonzo, Eric DeLeon. On the middle row are: Stephany Lopez, Samantha Esquivel, Amy Brewer, Yvette Cazares, Marcelino Ortiz, Angel Hernandez, Esai Balderas. On the top row are: Sarah Cantu, Aryssa Castillo, Jacinda Chavez, Stephanie Paez, Christopher Barboza, Frankie Chaires, Joel Guerrero.

                The choirs are under the direction of Kat Callaway, head choir director; AnnaMarie Gonzalez, assistant choir director/accompanist.
