Veterans Memorial FFA Chapter qualifies for Texas FFA State competition

                Members of the Veterans Memorial FFA Chapter recently competed in the Area 10 Career Development Events held in Robstown, Texas. The Chapter’s Veterinary Science team qualified for the Texas FFA State Career Development Event to be held on May 2 at Texas A&M University in College Station. The team members are: Zenaida Alaniz, David Bazan, Samantha Diaz, Fernanda Marrero, Sarah Langley. The Veterinary Science team has placed second in the RGV District and third in the Area 10 competitions.

                Other Veterans Memorial FFA teams also did well at the Area competition, but will not be advancing to state.

                The Poultry Judging Team of Miranda Farias, Isabella Farias, Kendra Garcia, Christina Reyna placed third in RGV and 17th at Area.

                The Wool Judging Team of Marco Diaz, Kerena Lopez, Carla Ferro placed third in the RGV and sixth at the Area competition.

                The Entomology Team placed fourth in the RGV and eighth at Area. Team members are: Priscilla Cerroblanco, Gil Lopez, Myhra Zarate, Andres Vasquez.

                The Livestock Judging team of Eliza Vela, Angel Sanchez, Roy Guerrero, A.J. Barba placed seventh in the RGV and 31st at Area.

                The Texas FFA is the nation’s largest state FFA association with a membership of 103,000 active FFA members. On average, there are approximately 18 schools per district. FFA programs teach skills in leadership, career development, and personal growth. FFA gives students the opportunity to practically apply classroom knowledge to real-world experiences through local, state, and national competitions.
