Escobar/Rio Elementary School becomes first in district with a National Elementary Honor Society

Escobar/Rios Elementary School has become the first elementary school in Mission CISD (Consolidated Independent School District) to have a National Elementary Honor Society Chapter. The chapter advisor, Lori Rodriguez, who is also the campus librarian, says students in fourth and fifth grade are eligible. Students must maintain a 90% or higher in their main content areas, have good attendance, and no behavior issues.

Just like their older counterparts in junior high schools and high schools, the elementary honor societies also stress community service. The Escobar/Rios Honor Society students plan to have two projects this school year. One benefitted the Palm Valley Animal Shelter. The second will be a campus improvement project.  In a normal school year, four service projects are required. The Escobar/Rios chapter was not officially approved until the middle of the school year and so only two projects will be held.

The inaugural inductees into the Escobar/Rios Elementary National Elementary Honor Society are: Mariassarai Abrego, Lesley Adame, Melissa Camacho, Amaris Cazares, Martha Ceja, Eduardo Diaz, Sara Diaz, Vianney Escamilla, Camila Escudero, Angela Fernandez, Jaime Fernandez, Anastasia Garcia, Natalie Garcia, Lexie Gaspar, Jennifer Godinez, Alex Gonzalez, Jamilex Gonzalez, Marc Gonzalez, Yanira Gonzalez, Hector Gutierrez, Adilenne Hernandez, Celeste Hernandez, Rosa Hernandez, Mario Jaramillo, Alex Leal, Angel Leal, Emily Lozano, Ashley Maldonado, Leeann Molina, Mathew Navarro, Jesus Orozco, Andres Osornio, Emelie Ramon, Juan Reyna, Daniela Rodriguez, Agustin Sanchez, Ximena Sanchez, Kaytlyn Torres, Alicia Vargas, Michael Vasquez.
