MHS student wins first place at national BPA competition

                Mission High School senior, Andy Garcia came home from the 48th Annual Business Professionals of America (BPA) National Leadership Conference with a first place finish in Fundamental Accounting.  Then just days after earning that national first place honor, he traveled to the DECA National Leadership Conference to compete in Accounting. Garcia has also qualified for the state UIL accounting competition to be held in mid-May. Then in June, Garcia has another trip. He qualified to compete at the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) national competitions.

                In the BPA Fundamental Accounting competition, students assess entry-level basic accounting principles utilizing manual procedures. Students analyze journalize, and post transactions; develop general and subsidiary ledgers; and prepare payroll and financial reports.
