O’Grady Elementary School Destination Imagination team finishes sixth at global competition

                Two teams of students from Mission CISD (Consolidated Independent School District) showed the world they have what it takes to compete internationally.

                Students from O’Grady Elementary School and R. Cantu Jr. High School advanced to the Destination Imagination Global Finals competition held in Knoxville, TN. The event, which concluded Saturday, May 24, was expected to draw over 1,250 teams of students from up to 45 states, seven Canadian provinces and 13 countries.

                The O’Grady Elementary School team, known as the Dramatic Foxes finished in sixth place out of the 91 teams they competed at against at the global competition. The team members are, front row, left to right: Gabriel Cordova, Sofia Rodriguez, Analee Salinas, Danilee Alaniz. On the back row are: Josue Raudy, Dalilah Trevino, Leslie Guerra, and team manager Cesar Gonzalez.

                The R. Cantu Jr. High School team, known as The Jumping Amazing Super Optimistic Noodle Squad finished in 16th place at the global competition. Team members are: Michael Rodriguez, Leslie Borrego, Kassandra Saldana, Isaiah Flores, Aaron Arredondo, Juan Garcia, Leslie Garza. Their team manager is Reynaldo Martinez.

                These two teams competed in open-ended challenges that required the team members to apply Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math in addition to improvisation, theater arts, writing, project management, communications, innovation, teamwork, and community service.
