MHS Commencement to be held on June 2

                The Mission High School (MHS) graduating Class of 2014 will get their diplomas on June 2, at the McAllen Convention Center. The commencement ceremony will officially begin at 9:00 a.m. The seniors will enter with the traditional “Pomp and Circumstance.”

                The presentation of colors will be led by Jorge Medrano. Yakqueline Lopez will lead everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance. The National Anthem will be sung by Carolina Gonzalez. Sara Melina Stubbs will provide an invocation, followed by the official welcome by Amanda Elizabeth Saenz. Luis Gerardo Hilario will introduce special guests in attendance.

                There will be three addresses during the program. The first will be by, Ricardo López, superintendent of schools. The salutatory address will be given by Vicente Cortes, followed by the valedictory address by Javier Eduardo Cervantes.

                López will provide the official certification of graduates, after which, the members of the Class of 2014 will be awarded their diplomas by the Mission CISD (Consolidated Independent School District) Board of Trustees.

                A benediction will be provided by Nallely De Leon.

                The MHS “Alma Mater” will be led by Griselda Carrillo.

                The tassel ceremony will be led by Nykea DeNae Salinas.

                The senior song selection will be performed by Rocio Rendon.

                The graduates will depart to “War March of the Priest.”
