VMHS Commencement to be held on June 2

                The Veterans Memorial High School (VMHS) graduating Class of 2014 will get their diplomas on June 2, at the McAllen Convention Center. The commencement ceremony will officially begin at 3:00 p.m. The seniors will enter with the traditional “Pomp and Circumstance.”

                The presentation of colors will be done by the VMHS JROTC. Roberto Javier Galindo will lead everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance. The National Anthem will be sung by Matthew Thomas Pena. Vanessa Gabriela Osorio De La Cruz will provide an invocation, followed by the official welcome by Alexandria Nicole Gonzalez. VMHS principal, Gustavo Zapata will introduce special guests in attendance.

                There will be three addresses during the program. The first will be by, Ricardo López, superintendent of schools. The salutatory address will be given by Giselle Castillo, followed by the valedictory address by Matthew Alan Sparks.

                López will provide the official certification of graduates, after which, the members of the Class of 2014 will be awarded their diplomas by the Mission CISD (Consolidated Independent School District) Board of Trustees.

                A benediction will be provided by Galilea Zorola.

                The senior song selection will be performed by: Jesee Absolom Ayala, Samantha Marie De La Cruz, Stephanie Danielle De La Garza, Steven Taylor Eslinger, Janessa Renee Farias, Alexander Khuzaah Reyes, Katarina Belen Padilla, Matthew Thomas Pena, Raul Rivera Jr., Kylie Delaney Rose, Angel Daniel Sanchez, Priscilla Sanchez, Christopher Ray Vargas, Paula Maria Vazquez, Myhra Alexandra Zarate.

                The tassel ceremony will be led by Galilea Zorola.

                The graduates will depart to “War March of the Priest.”
