The Veterans Memorial High School choir recently had 23 students compete at the UIL State Solo and Ensemble Contest, held at the University of Texas at Austin. Five students received gold medals for earning a Division I (superior) rating. Twelve students received silver medals for earning a Division 2 (excellent) rating.
Earning gold medals were: Micaela Lamas, Vanessa Cano, Brian Mueller, Cherish Varlack, Katarina Padilla.
Earning silver medals were: Japheth Varlack, Adriel Varlack, Stephanie McCoy, Mary Almendarez, Ashley Alaniz, Alexis Barrientes, Sandra Barba, Darius Davis, Christopher Vargas, Raul Rivera, Stephanie De La Garza, Myhra Zarate.
