Rising music star drops by Mission Jr. High

As a part of activities on the last day of school this year, Mission Jr. High School (MJH) held a talent show. During the show, they had a surprise visit from a rising start in the music industry who had attended MJH and is a graduate of Veterans Memorial High School (VMHS), Elijah King. One of King’s recent accomplishments was winning the Global Music Contest for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. He entered a song he had written called Vida. The song was recorded by Ricky Martin, included on the official World Cup album, and became a top ten hit for Martin on the Latin music chart.

King, pictured here, spoke briefly during the talent show and encouraged students to never give up and to follow their dreams.

By-the-way, King’s brother, Isaac Rodriguez, won this year’s MJH talent show sing a song originally by Bruno Mars. Sounds like musical talent may run in the family.
