Alton Elementary students’ final service project helps Mission Food Pantry

In Mid-March, the students at Alton Elementary School took on a community service project to help the Mission Food Pantry. They learned the pantry was low on supplies and set out to collect 1,000 non-perishable food items through what they called the Sharing Cans with Caring Hands drive.

School-wide competitions were held between classrooms. Each month, the winning class was announced. Ten weeks later, the students reached their goal and a donation was made to the Mission Food Pantry of 1,000 items was made in the closing days of the school year.
