New statues representing Mission High School (MHS) and Veterans Memorial High School (VMHS) were greeted with a pep rally style welcome at Tom Landry Stadium on Thursday, August 21. Student participation from MHS and VMHS helped make the event a memorable one for those who came out to get their first look at the completed statues.
Winds made the job of lifting the statues onto their new pedestals a bit of a challenge. Both statues stand about 26 feet tall with one on each side of the stadium scoreboard. The eagle statue weighs in at about 3,500 pounds. The patriot statue weighs about 1,200 pounds.
