MHS FFA members selected for national event

Three members of the Mission High School FFA Chapter are the only FFA members from Texas selected by the Society of Agricultural Education of Parliamentarians to participate in the National Qualifying Professional Parliamentarians Seminar. Students Johanna Jimenez and Jose Calderon, and their advisor Benito Garza represented Mission CISD (Consolidated Independent School District), and the state at this event. They were also asked to serve as president at the national seminar. The students took turns serving as president at the national seminar and were complemented by their instructors for their ability in running a meeting and their knowledge of parliamentary procedures.

Jimenez, Calderon, and Garza are among only 15 individuals in the nation to be selected from across the country to participate in exams and assignments administered at this national event that could result in them receiving Professional Accredited Parliamentarian Certifications.  The exams and assignments they completed test their knowledge of Robert’s Rules of Order as well as the duties and responsibilities of professional parliamentarians.

The National qualifying Professional Parliamentarians Seminar was held in conjunction with the National FFA Convention held recently in Louisville, Kentucky.

The three are awaiting their final test results to find out if they have earned their professional certifications.
