Veterans Memorial High School (VMHS) cross country head coach William Proctor and two of his team members were honored last night by the Rio Grande Valley Coaches Association (RGVCA). During the Meet of Champs banquet held in Edinburg, Texas, Proctor was honored as the boy’s team coach of the year.
Cross country team member G.J. Reyna was recognized as the male athlete of the year and was also named to the group’s first team.
Fellow team member, Fabian Garcia earned an honorable mention and was named to the group’s second team.
The VMHS cross country team earned a district championship this season, and advanced to the state cross country meet, finishing in fourth place.
