Kohl’s Dept. Store Awards $1,000 Grant for MHS Library Beautification

Kohl’s Department Store is partnering with Mission High School to help beautify the Learning Resource and Multimedia centers. Librarian Elizabeth H. Cavazos wanted to create a dynamic environment for students, staff and community members, and rather than going out to purchase ready-made art, she found a way to showcase student talent.

Through the Kohl’s Cares program, Cavazos helped the school get a $1,000 grant to fund the beautification project.

“I could have gone out and bought art, but the whole idea was to have them leave their mark,” said Cavazos, “so they can leave something behind and impact their fellow art students.”

Kohl’s presented the grant to the school on March 3. The monies went toward the purchase of supplies to enable students to create the art pieces that will soon be on display. The pieces will depict the different academic disciplines in the modern art style.
