Alton Elementary and Alton Memorial Jr. High win City of Alton Recycle Bowl III

Alton Elementary School and Alton Memorial Junior High School won the Alton Recycle Bowl III Championship in their respective categories. The City of Alton hosted the annual event through the month of February to promote recycling in Alton area schools from Mission CISD, La Joya ISD, and Sharyland ISD.

In the elementary school division, Alton Elementary came out on top with 746 lbs. of recycle. By recycling, our Alton Elementary champs helped save a total of 15 gallons of oil, 104 hours of electricity, and 116 gallons of water. In the middle school-high school division, Alton Memorial Jr. High won with a total of 2,164 pounds of recycle.  Alton Memorial Jr. High helped save 54 gallons of oil, 554 hours of electricity, 1,608 gallons of water, and also 5 trees.

Congratulations to the winning schools! This partnership with the City of Alton demonstrates Mission CISD’s commitment to preparing and inspiring students to serve as successful citizens in their community through civic engagement.
