Mission HS Students Advance to Region IV UIL Academic Competition

Congratulations to members of the Mission High School UIL (University Interscholastic League) Academic team advancing to the Region IV competition in San Antonio.

In Calculators, senior Edgar Garza took 1st place, freshman David Molina took 3rd place, junior Alyssa Garza took 4th place and sophomore Alejandro Hernandez took 5th place.  This team of mathletes will represent District 30-6A as the champion team.  The team is coached by Noe Pena.    

The computer science team took 2nd place with David Molina taking the gold medal and Alan Castellano taking 3rd place. The team is coached by Ramiro Castillo.    

Computer applications will be represented by Marcela Rodriguez who placed 2nd and Leah Lerma who placed 3rd to advance to the Region IV competition. The team is coached by Gloria Gonzalez.

Senior Christopher Barboza took the bronze medal in Ready Writing to advance to the regional meet.  He is coached by Irazema Rodriguez.    

In prose competition, Samantha Banda placed 4th and Christopher Barboza placed 5th.  They are coached by Alex Zamora.  Sara Alonzo took 6th place in Spelling, coached by Rosita Cantu.  Marco Flores placed 6th in Copy Edit and is coached by Jonathan Salinas.
