MHS FFA student projects earn top marks at stock show

            Mission, Texas- Top honors were earned by Mission High School (MHS) FFA students at the recent Rio Grande Valley Livestock Show (RGVLS). Multiple student earned reserve champion, extremely high placings, qualified for the premium auction or earned a premium check for their outstanding projects.

            Their top results include: Julissa Alvarez, reserve champion in public speaking; Cesar Vargas, reserve champion vine plant; Brianna Saenz, reserve champion fine wool lamb; Arianna Pena, reserve champion brahman steer; Brianna Saenz, first place class winner, fine wool lamb; Arianna Pena, first place class winner, fine wool lamb; Amanda Granados, first place class winner, fine wool cross lamb; Alan Hinojosa, first place class winner, medium wool lamb; Nelida Garza, second place, fine wool lamb; Alan Hinojosa, third place goat, third place lamb showmanship; Jacob Flores, third place main anju steer, third place photography; Rudy Salazar, premium winner, fourth place medium wool lamb; Ilianna Martinez, premium winner, fourth place fine wool cross lamb; Samantha Young, premium winner, fifth place fine wool cross lamb; Brandon De La Cruz, premium winner, fifth place shop project; Sebastian Carillo, premium winner, fifth place brahman heifer; Brandon De La Cruz, excellent shop project blue ribbon; Arnulfo Gonzalez, excellent shop project blue ribbon; Arianna Pena, excellent shop project blue ribbon; Sebastian Carrillo, excellent shop project blue ribbon; Nelida Garza, excellent shop project blue ribbon.

            The champion lamb good housekeeping award was earned by: Marco Garcia, Rudy Salazar, Eloisa Barradas, Alan Hinojosa, Jewlyssa Cantu, Arianna Pena, Nelida Garza, Amanda Granados, Brianna Saenz, Samantha Young, Ilianna Martinez, Librado Anzaldua.

            Librado Anzaldua and Sebastian Carrillo were both winners in the pig scramble.
