A healthy prize for a healthy initiative

Mission CISD elementary schools participated in the UTRGV Border Health Student Enrollment and Education Program (SEEP). This is a special awareness program that educates fourth grade elementary students about the risk factors of, and complications from diabetes in the hopes that they share the message with their families. The students were also encouraged to have their parents complete a questionnaire and bring it back. The date is used by UTRGV for its programs and research in combating the disease.

All participating district campuses were entered into a drawing to win a Microsoft X-Box gaming system and Just Dance game for campus use. These have been very popular tools in promoting exercise through fun programs that require movement. Mims Elementary School won this year’s drawing.
