Congratulations to the Veterans Memorial High School (VMHS) Patriot Stars who returned from the National Dance Alliance camp at The University of Texas at San Antonio last week with numerous team awards, individual special recognition ribbons, and a bid to nationals to be held in Orlando, Florida in the spring of 2018.
The VMHS squad won: Superior Home Routine, Gold Team Routine, Silver Officer Routine, had 11 All-American Nominees, seven All-American Dancers, a National Championship Bid, four Top Guns (turns, jumps & leaps, hip hop, kicks), Excellence in Leadership, Technical Excellence, Power Performance Award, and the Above and Beyond Award, in addition to numerous individual special recognition ribbons. Dance team members are: Aiesha Gonzalez, Alejandra Romero, Alexa Gonzalez, Alyssa Cantu, Amanda Flores, Ana Salinas, Aubree Rodriguez, Brianna Garza, Cassandra Salinas, Catherine Cavazos, Chloe Cortez,, Cristina Cassiano (Captain), Darlynn Barrera, Edanili Sanchez, Evelyn Cassiano, Issys Reyes, Jacqueline Gaona, Jasmine Salazar, Jessie Gomez, Kaitlyn Bryan, Karime Lozano (4th Lieutenant), Karina Pena, Lauren Peralez, Leslie Garza, Lyric Tharp, Ma’Lia Morales, Maria Villarreal, Nelissa Garcia (2nd Lieutenant), Nydia Villagomez, Pilar Trevino, Roxana Casas (Major), Ruby Lopez, Stephanie Bearty (3rd Lieutenant), Victoria Gaona, and Victoria Salinas (1st Lieutenant).
