Mission, Texas- A total of 7 students at Mission High School (MHS) have earned AP Scholar Awards in recognition of their exceptional achievement on AP (Advanced Placement) exams.
The College Board’s Advanced Placement Program provides motivated and academically prepared students with the opportunity to take rigorous, college-level courses while still in high school, and to earn college credit, advanced placement, or both for successful performance on the AP exams. The College Board recognizes several levels of achievement, based on students’ performance on AP exams.
Two students qualified for the AP Scholar with Distinction Award. This is granted to students who receive an average score of at least 3.5 of all AP exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on five or more of the exams. These students are: Alejandro D. Martinez, senior; Edgar A. Garza, Class of 2017.
Five students qualified for the AP Scholar Award by completing three or more AP exams with grades of 3 or higher. They are: Ruben A. Cantu, senior; Sebastian Carrillo, senior; Roxanna Cortes, class of 2017; Xavian A. Flores, senior; Alyssa M. Garza, senior.
