VMHS students earn spots in regional choir, advance to area competitions

            Mission, Texas- Eight students from Veterans Memorial High School have earned spots in the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) Region 15 Mixed Choir. Choir students from Roma to Pharr competed for the honor of making a regional choir, and possibly advancing to the Area level of competitions. The Area level of competition is the final round in the TMEA All-State Choir process.

            Making the TMEA Region 15 Mixed Choir are (front row, left to right): Aylin Salinas, Selee Mercado, Cheyenne Garza, Gracie Padron. On the back row are: Logan Dovalina, Jonathan Benavides, Sammy Buentello, Ramiro Farias.

            Five of these students made the Pre-Area Choir and have advanced to the Area level. They are: Aylin Salinas, Selee Mercado, Cheyenne Garza, Logan Dovalina, Jonathan Benavides.

            The TMEA All-State Choir auditions will be held at Nikki Rowe High School on January 13. The TMEA All-State choirs are considered the highest level of achievement for choir students in Texas.
