VMHS BPA students qualify for state competition

            Mission, Texas- Students from the Veterans Memorial High School Business Professionals of America (BPA) will be making a trip to the state competition when it is held in March.

            The students earned their way to state competition through their performance at the recent Regional Leadership conference. Karina Pena placed fourth in medical office procedures. Michael Iglesias placed first in JAVA programming. Cristian Sanchez advanced in SQL database after placing first at regionals.

            The parliamentary procedure team placed third and will serve as state alternates. Those team members are: Alyssa Ramirez, Jonatan Andrade, Samantha Gomez, Genesis Gonzalez.

            A number of other VMHS BPA students just missed the cut for advancing to state but finished well at regionals. Other individual competitors were: Jonatan Andrade, intermediate word processing; Nelissa Garcia, interview skills; Vanessa Luna, banking and finance; Genesis Gonzalez, human resource management, Leah Picazo, legal office procedures. The global marketing team of Alyssa Ramirez and Genesis Gonzalez also scored well at regionals.
