MCISD students and leadership recognized at City of Alton Rubies & Diamonds Gala

The Greater Alton Chamber of Commerce had their Rubies & Diamonds Gala on Saturday, April 7, 2018. This event not only recognizes the award honorees but also provides the attendees with a presentation of all the great projects the city has been working on. Mission Consolidated Independent School District received the Helping Hand Award, Rafael Cantu Jr. High School CyberCavs received the Pride Award, Alyssa Jade Rivera (Alton Memorial Jr. High student) and Kimberly Espinoza (Rafael Cantu Jr. High School student) were both recipients of the Future of Alton Award.

“We are truly honored that our district and students are the recipients of these recognitions,” said Ms. Criselda Valdez, MCISD Interim Superintendent. “As we move forward our focus remains on our continued collaboration with the City of Alton on different projects that benefit our community. The City forges forward by bringing new and innovative ideas to the forefront that are for the betterment of MCISD families in the Alton area and we are appreciative of their efforts.”

The City of Alton also presented a video in which many City’s projects were featured and one of those projects was the Digi-Tech Library located at Mission Collegiate High School. The digital library is first of its kind which represents a whole new approach to reading by providing a variety of online books that are available to those that come to visit.

The school district looks forward to the continued collaboration with the City of Alton on future projects. Congratulations to Mission CISD, Rafael Cantu Jr. High School CyberCavs, Alyssa Jade Rivera, and Kimberly Espinoza for being award recipients.
