Wandmaker’s Guidebook Author Visits MCISD Campuses

Mission CISD had two elementary campuses that were selected by Scholastic Books to host a book author. Bryan Elementary and Midkiff Elementary had the special treat of hosting Ed Masessa an author that has written several books such as the Wandmaker’s Guidebook, Wandmaker’s Apprentice, Scarecrow Magic, and Real Life Monsters just to mention a few.

Students listened attentively as Masessa spoke to 4th and 5th grade students along with Platinum Readers about his writing process when he wrote Wandmaker’s Guidebook which had a nine-week run on the NY Times Bestseller list and two weeks at #1. He states that writing is a process that involves revision, editing, and rewriting.

Scholastic Books representative, Nellie Jones, hopes to continue to bring book authors to school districts in the Rio Grande Valley. She mentioned that she would notice how authors would visit other areas and wanted to make sure that they came to visit her territory. Ed Masessa is just one author of many she hopes to bring to districts in the Valley.
