VMHS Jazz Band, under the direction of band director Gabriel Molina, competed for the first time at the 18th Annual RGV Jazz Festival held at the Harlingen CISD Performing Arts Center on April 28, 2018. The band received straight Superior ratings from all three judges. In addition, the VMHS Jazz Band earned 2nd place in the 5A division. On top of that, sophomore Damian Gonzalez was selected as an Outstanding Soloist among all students participating in the contest.
