Mission CISD Special Olympics athletes recently competed in the Area 1-Special Olympics Spring Games (Track & Field Meet). This is a two day event that began Friday, April 27th at Bob Lackey Stadium in Weslaco, Texas. Due to inclement weather our delegation competed Day 1 only.
Over 33 delegations across Hidalgo and Starr county participated in this event. Friday's event was a huge success for our athletes, they brought home 49 Gold Medals, 22 Silver Medals, 25 Bronze Medals and 11- 4th through 6th place ribbons.
Our athletes represented Mission proudly, Congratulations to all our athletes!!! A big shout out to all our Special Ed. staff who assisted our coaches in preparing our athletes for this event. Also, a big "Thank you" to Deanna Vallejo, Mission High School Teacher and TAFE club members who assisted all our athletes at the different venues on Friday April 27th. Thank you again, for your dedication to the Mission CISD Special Olympics Program. The results are as follows:
