Salinas Elementary hosts 20th Anniversary Ceremony

Esteban “Steve” Salinas, Jr. Elementary had a 20th Anniversary Ceremony on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at the campus. The Salinas family was in attendance for the ceremony and was able to witness all the student talent and listen to the school’s accolades. Principal Martina Garcia welcomed everyone to the event and served as the Mistress of Ceremony.

Assistant Principal, Michael Ortiz, presented The Story of Steve Salinas and mentioned his academic and athletic accomplishments at Mission CISD and while attending the University of Northern Iowa. His dreams were to become a professional football player one day and eventually become an officer of the law. This was a special tribute to Steve in remembrance of him and the many contributions he made to his community.

The program continued with students performing various musical numbers in honor of Steve Salinas and the 20 years the school has been in existence. The 5th grade Choir even did a rendition of Steve’s favorite song called “Linger” by the Cranberries. A variety of performances kept the audience entertained throughout the morning. The event concluded with a video presentation of the Salinas Elementary students, teachers, and administrators.
