Veterans Memorial High School had three jazz musicians earn a seat in the TMEA Region 15 Area and Region jazz ensembles. VMHS jazz students competed on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at Edinburg High School for a coveted position in the groups. Damien Gonzalez earned 3rd chair on Trombone, Paul McCoy Jr. earned 4th chair on Tenor Saxophone, and Brandon Salinas earned 2nd chair on Trumpet.
This the first time ever in the history of VMHS in which students will advance to the Area competition. Both Damian and Brandon will advance to the Area round to compete for a position in the TMEA All-State Jazz Ensembles. All three students will perform in February with other musicians and highly renowned Jazz Clinicians. Congratulations to these students for their hard work and dedication.
