Mission, Texas- At approximately, 7:20 a.m. Mission CISD officials were instructed to secure Leal Elementary School due to a pursuit in the area of the campus. Local law enforcement officials immediately provided additional security at the campus allowing for activities to continue inside the school while keeping everyone secure inside, and not allowing any entry to the school.
As of 8:55 a.m., the campus is still under a secure status at the advisement of law enforcement. As of this time, no suspects have entered the grounds of Leal Elementary School and there have been no arrests made anywhere on campus grounds.
Rumors of a gun incident at a Mission CISD school are false. We also understand there may be video of what appears to be an apprehension that is being assumed to be a student. This is false.
