Mission CISD schools earn HealthierUS School Challenge awards

Mission, Texas- Each traditional Mission Consolidated Independent School District (CISD) campus has earned a bronze award in the HealthierUS School Challenge (HUSSC) from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).

The USDA started the HUSSC to recognize schools that create healthier school environments by providing nutrition education, nutritious food and beverage choices, physical education, and opportunities for physical activity. Criteria also includes adherence to USDA guidelines for all foods served/sold in schools, and the implementation of a local wellness policy.

This is the second national health-related recognition all Mission CISD schools have earned this year. Earlier it was announced by the Alliance for a Healthier Generation that Mission CISD is once again, one of only a handful of school districts in the country to continue to have all its schools among its active list of Healthiest Schools in America.
