Mission CISD Fall into Better Health 5K a success!

The Mission CISD Risk Management Department hosted the first “Fall into Better Health 5K Run/Walk” on Saturday, October 13, 2018, at the Bentsen Palm Community Park.  There were over 110 participants in attendance from district employees, students, children and teenagers. Mr. Daniel Longoria, Mission High School PE Teacher helped kick off the event by leading the group of participants with a stretch and warm-up exercise.  The Veterans Memorial High School Cheerleaders distributed medals to the first 50 participants that completed the 5K.

“The Risk Management Department’s goal was to promote health and wellness with this event while providing a fun and safe activity for our staff members, their families and the community. Whether they walked, ran or strolled,” said Mrs. Sylvia Cruz, Director for Risk Management. “The 5K event was a perfect opportunity for everyone to come together and also meet with local vendors.”

A special thank you to the vendors that provided the participants with information, healthy snacks and/or giveaways: Dr. Burkett Dental, Richard’s Pharmacy, Chick-Fil-A, Pollo Loco, Dr. Mario Anzaldua, Baaxten Imagining, Valley Day & Night Clinic, Dairy Queen, Watermill Express, Longhorn Steakhouse, H.E.B., Jeff Everitt & Associates, Whistling Duck, Lone Star National Bank and Edwards Risk Management, Inc.

The event was free but donations were being accepted for the 2019 Back to School Bash.
