Unique, Digi-Tech Library celebrates its first year

            Alton, Texas- When it opened on January 23, 2018, the City of Alton Digi-Tech Library at Mission Collegiate High School was the first-of-its-kind in the Rio Grande Valley. This digital library plans to celebrate its first year of existence on Wednesday, January 23, from 5:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m.

            The Alton Digi-Tech Library at Mission Collegiate High School is the result of the growing partnership between Mission Consolidated Independent School District (CISD), and the City of Alton in serving the Alton community. The Digi-Tech Library is housed within the library of Mission Collegiate High School located at 605 S. Los Ebanos Blvd., in Alton. It is open Monday-Friday, 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m.; and on Saturday from 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.

            Over its first year, the Digi-Tech Library has served thousands of patrons and staff have held special events like: a health fair, Poetry Slams, Trivia Nights, Arts & Crafts Night, Movie Nights, etc.

            The City of Alton has been one of the main partners in Mission CISD’s literacy efforts that include the Mission CISD Reads initiative that brought a free online digital library resource to anyone living in the Mission CISD community. This online resource is a key component of the Digi-Tech Library.
