Library Services Mission

The Library Services Department empowers librarians, students, and teachers by promoting literacy, fostering a love of reading, and supporting high-quality instructional programs. We are committed to creating welcoming libraries where every student can see themselves in the collection, engage in meaningful learning, and develop the knowledge and skills needed to thrive as confident citizens.

 

Library Services Vision

The Library Services Department envisions dynamic, collaborative library spaces that inspire a passion for reading, encourage curiosity, and prepare all students to excel in college, career, and life. Through access to diverse resources, innovative technology, and instructional support, our libraries cultivate leadership, creativity, and lifelong learning so that every student is equipped to succeed in a global society.

Acquisition of Library Materials
 
In accordance with Section 33.026(a)(2) of SB 13, the titles listed below are proposed to be procured by a school library and are open for public review for a period of at least 30 days prior to board action.
 
Parent Access to Library Materials
 
In accordance with Section 33.024 of SB 13 and Board Policy EFB (Local), parents may access their child's library activity via Follett Destiny. This access allows parents to:
  • View their child's current and past checkouts
  • Browse the library catalog
  • Submit restrictions on specific titles
 
Challenge of Library Materials
 
In accordance with Section 33.027 of SB 13 and Board Policy EFB (Local), a parent of a student enrolled in Mission CISD, a Mission CISD employee, or a Mission CISD resident may submit to the district a written challenge to any library material in the catalog of a school library using the form below.
